I was listening to Kendrick Lamar's song, 'The Recipe", on the way to work yesterday and found inspiration for the focal point of today's post in his lyrics. While K. Dot's recipe for why people come to California is slightly different in content, it still got me thinking on my own recipe for the summer...at least when it comes to my wardrobe.
I've referred to different pieces lately as being crucial to my summer wardrobe aesthetic. To coincide with my goals to be low budget with my wardrobe choices, I've decided my recipe for the summer is: Sunglasses, Shorts, and Sneakers. There are a lot of cute trends for summer that are giving all of us children of the millennium all of the feels. As much as I love so many of them, I'm trying to remind myself that many of them are simply trends that are here today and possibly gone tomorrow.
I'm really loving this summer wardrobe recipe so far because I am able to more definitively decide what I'm going to wear on the weekends and I also don't feel overwhelmed by having so many things in my closet. Instead, I pick out a pair of sneakers and then build my outfit from there and am ready to go in a much shorter time. I also read recently that we only wear 20% of the pieces in our closets because we either wear our favorites over and over or grab the first thing to catch our eye. I'm trying to keep this in mind as I shop and thinking long and hard about how much I really love something before I head to the checkout.
Get ready to see all of the sunglasses, shorts, and sneakers until further notice! This recipe is sticking around!
