Workout Wednesday: Week #4

Hey y'all! Sorry about the lack of a Workout Wednesday post last week; we were experiencing some technical difficulties that prevented me from being able to post. Worry not though, we are back today and ready to hit the pavement. Before we get started with today's workout out I want to talk a little bit about my personal methods for tracking my running progress.

If you follow me on Instagram you have noticed that I track my runs on the Nike Run Club App. I have loved being able to use this app to track my progress because it includes several features that keep me motivated to run 3-4 times per week. I highly recommend using this app in particular and here are the reasons why:
 1. It clocks the entire run for me and tracks my pace for each mile. When I stop to take a break or catch my breath the time automatically stops and then restarts when I start moving again. This is helpful because I don't have to actively make sure the clock starts and stops with me. Rather, it's all automatic.
 2. It shows my totals miles accumulated since I started using the app. I have been using it for about a month now and love being able to see how the miles are racking up over time. It definitely keeps me wanting to set new goals for myself.
 3. Finally, the app includes achievements you can acquire after each run. These can include farthest run in distance, longest run in time, or fastest run. Each time you reach a new goal you unlock a new achievement. Again, it serves as its own motivation because you want to constantly unlock new achievements.
In today's workout we are back to focusing on the legs and strengthening those areas that are directly affected by our cardio activities. I did this work out for the first time this morning and was definitely feeling those muscles burning by the time I walked out of the gym. As always, make sure you include a good stretch before and after your workout and be sure to include cardio to get your heart pumping and muscles warm.
