To continue the 25th Birthday celebration my friends and I visited Gatlinburg, Tennessee this past weekend. I've never been one for the great outdoors; I'm much more of a city girl at heart. However, my friend, Layne, who is pictured above said I would not want to miss this view and she was absolutely right! The views were breathtaking. The Great Smoky Mountains are located along the Tennessee-North Carolina border and, as such, certain stretches of the mountains are located in both Tennessee and North Carolina.

At one of the lookouts along the way to Gatlinburg you can actually stand in two places at once. Well I could pass up my 'Mandy Moore' moment..hopefully you all caught the Walk to Remember reference.

Cade's Cove is located about 15 minutes outside of Gatlinburg and was another one of our stops during this Sunday Funday adventure. It is an 11-miles loop part of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park that has many stops along the way where you can get out of the car, take pictures, and enjoy the view. At many of the stops there are also old log cabins that were brought down the mountain for viewing when the area was turned into a national park. It was really cool to see how small and simple the cabins were in comparison to some of the mansion size homes we see today. At different stops throughout the park there were also visitors having picnics and playing in the fields...we even witnessed a proposal as it was happening! If you're ever near Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge this park is definitely worth visiting.
