25 things in 25 years

In honor of my milestone birthday this week, I decided I wanted to spread some of the wisdom I have acquired in my 25 years of life. Not to say that I have it ALL figured out, but I have definitely learned a thing or two worth sharing. Most of what I have learned is through my own experiences so if you're reading this and it sounds familiar that is probably because I learned it from you...or because of you. Haha. Without further ado, my list of the 25 most important things I have learned in 25 years:

1. Always be true to yourself- you'll never lose sleep at night being hated for what you are, but you might be up counting sheep while being loved for what you are not.
2. Stand up for the things you believe in. You will never regret doing what you believe is right.

3. Do not be afraid to leave the things, or people, that are not good for your growth in the past.

4. TTP: Trust The Process. It might not always happen on your time, but what is truly meant for you will happen in the right time.

5. Hug your Mom- those screaming matches of your teenage years will not last forever and you will realize you would not be you without her. And that you are just like her.
6. Hug your Dad, for that matter. No man will ever have your back or stand up for you quite like he will.

7. This one might sound cliche, but it is SO accurate..it is not about who has been by your side the longest; it is about who has been by your side and never left.

8. Get yourself an amazing best friend, both male and female. They will be your partner in crime, laugh at your corny jokes, always be down for one of your shenanigans, and truly be your rock in totally different, but equally important ways. Love you both.

9. If there's something you want to do or some place you want to go, JUST DO IT. Do not ever wait around.
10. Exercise give you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands. They just don't.

11. NEVER make a life-changing decision based on someone else. Make the decision that is going to be best for you and who you want to grow up to be.
12. There are no loses in life, only lessons.

13. White is acceptable after Labor Day...as long as you style it correctly.

14. Realize that change is inevitable, but things that are meant to last will persevere through those changes.
15. Hop on that airplane and just go whenever you have the opportunity. The world is so big and worth exploring.
16. Loyalty makes you family.

17. It takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile.
18. Take pictures so that you will have the memories and the way you felt in those moments to hold onto.

19. College is the best 4 years of your life so, for the love of all that is holy, make it worth remembering. Some of the best memories will be from moments that were not supposed to happen.
20. Do not let someone ever tell you that you cannot or you will not do something. But when they do, PROVE THEM WRONG.

21. It is okay to cry when you have had a rough day or a rough couple of days, but always wake up the next morning, dust yourself off, and remember who you are.

22. Watch One Tree Hill from start to finish. BEST. DECISION. EVER.
23. Be thankful for the people who come into your life and change it for the better. You will wake up one day and wonder how you ever made it without them. And you will be so thankful you do not have to.

24. "People are going to label you. But it's how you overcome those labels. That's what matters."
-Brooke Davis

25. YOU ARE ONLY YOUNG ONCE.
